“We live and work in a small town in South-East Poland called Jasło. On a daily basis we work in Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury which can be translated as “House of Culture for Youth”. Children, teens and adults come to us to take part in many different workshops such as art and craft, poetry, music, theater and many more. When I heard about the Ecocide project I immediately thought about our theater group of teens. They are the ones starting adult’s life in a global climate crisis. Their feelings, fears, hopes should be heard widely. They ought to take active part in such projects. And art can help them to transform anger and hopelessness into more positive and active actions.

They were my inspiration for introducing the project widely.

We managed to prepare a kindergarten festival of eco songs. Kids are singing about Earth - home for all humans, all animals, all plants. They don’t want it to be destroyed by adults producing pollution. They still want to have clean air, water and woods and simply enjoy life.

We organized a competition for school kids. They are asked to make a toy out of trash. We want to show them that trash is everywhere and that we all people have to reduce it. And that we can give things second or even third life.

At last we plan to film some theater etudes with teens. We will not use scenarios or strict plans for these.

We just want to create a safe environment for them in which they can show their inner feelings about the Earth, Nature and Climate being devastated and in great need of our protection.”
