Ecocide refers to serious, widespread, or long-term damage to the environment and has been at the center of an international debate in recent years regarding its treatment as a standalone criminal offense.

In light of the upcoming transposition of Directive (EU) 2024/1203 into criminal law, the discussion will cover recent international and European developments, as well as the issues arising from its incorporation into the Greek legal system.
