As well as high-level diplomatic meetings, Stop Ecocide is involved in a number of Climate Week events, including the global March to End Fossil Fuels, networking with key figures from civil society, business and political backgrounds, throughout the week.

 
 

Saturday 16th September

Youth for Ecocide Law was represented by Co-Lead Amalie Wilkinson at the UN’s SDG Action Weekend. Amalie met with other civil society representatives and attended youth mobilization sessions to advance the participation of young people in efforts to achieve ecologically sustainable development goals.


Sunday 17th September

From September 15 to 17, millions of people around the world took to the streets to demand a rapid, just, and equitable end to fossil fuels.

Representitives of Stop Ecocide International and Youth for Ecocide Law were amongst the 75,000 people who marched in New York on September 17th, in what was the largest climate mobilisation since 2020.

Protesters rallied around one simple call: an end to the mass environmental damage and destruction associated with producing and burning fossil fuels.


Monday 18th September

In the presence of distinguished Brazilian and international experts, the event provided a platform to delve into both the current landscape and future prospects pertaining to socio-environmental and climate litigation. This exploration encompassed the national Supreme Court, the judiciary's common instances, and extend to the realm of international courts.

Tuesday 19th September

GF23 took place Sept. 19-21 in New York City and each day included presentations and forums intended to grow knowledge and engage participants in lively discussions on ‘must-have’ outcomes and ‘must-do’ actions for thriving global futures.

The Hon. Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, Former President of The Republic of Mauritius was joined by Jojo Mehta, co-founder and executive director of Stop Ecocide International in discussion with Maya Soetoro, Co-Founder, Institute for Climate and Peace at the event entitled Catalyzing Change: Value Systems.


Wednesday 20th September

The extended teaser for stunning upcoming impact documentary Amazonia: the Heart of Mother Earth - co-produced and directed by Princess Esmeralda and Gert Peter Bruch - will set the scene for an interactive journey of discussion with renowned, expert and deeply committed speakers on the power and potential of indigenous culture and the use of law to protect the beating heart of Earth’s web of life - the Amazon basin.
