Maite Mompó
Maite Mompó is currently the Director of Stop Ecocide International’s Spanish-language division, a global movement whose primary goal is to secure legislation to protect the Earth by making ecocide the fifth crime against peace under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.
Maite has dedicated her entire life to human rights, peace, and the environment. She has been directly involved in various causes and with diverse organizations, particularly Amnesty International and Greenpeace. After working for nearly a decade as a sailor on Greenpeace ships, she wrote the book “Rainbow Warriors: Legendary Stories of the Greenpeace Ships,” a valuable resource for raising awareness about the major global environmental issues of recent decades.
Maite holds a law degree and specializes in ecological ethics, sustainability, and environmental education (Univ. Politécnica Valencia). She has spent years giving single-topic lectures on environmental issues and carrying out an environmental awareness project for schools.
Since 2019, she has been part of the Stop Ecocide International team, driving the global debate on the criminalization of ecocide to contribute to an ethical and social paradigm shift in the relationship humans have with the planet we inhabit.
