YOUR RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE
We all have the human right to act according to our conscience and deeply held beliefs, as long as we are not harming or endangering others by doing so (ECHR article 9, UDHR article 18).
This right was peacefully campaigned for over decades by those who saw the harm of war and wanted no part of it – the Conscientious Objectors of the 20th Century.
When science is telling us the Earth is in trouble, and we want to protect our people and planet, then using this right is both justified and necessary.
So the Conscientious Protectors of the 21 st Century are going a step further. We are not just refusing to be part of the harm. We feel compelled to take action to prevent it.
By signing up as an Earth Protector you are clearly stating that you believe damage and destruction to the Earth and its inhabitants should be a crime - and you will have a document in your name to show this. It can be used in court as evidence that you are not acting to cause harm but to prevent it.
